From July 29th to 31st, the 2024 Jiangsu Province Vocational College Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition finals, co-hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, and seven other departments, were held at Nanjing Communications Institute of Technology. After preliminary selection at the school level, our school recommended a total of 14 projects to participate in the online evaluation, including 6 comprehensive creative projects, 6 comprehensive entrepreneurial projects, and 2 creative projects (rural revitalization category). Eight projects successfully advanced to the on-site competition. After intense competition, our school ultimately won 3 first prizes, 5 second prizes, and 4 third prizes, and once again received the Outstanding Organization Award. The number of first prizes won ranks fifth among all vocational colleges in the province.
This competition attracted over 200 vocational colleges within the province, 98,000 projects, and more than 360,000 participants. After the semi-final review, a total of 378 projects advanced to the provincial final. In recent years, our school has placed great emphasis on innovation and entrepreneurship education for college students. Since the preparation for this competition started in November last year, the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship has coordinated with relevant schools to formulate detailed preparation plans, refining multiple aspects such as project selection, project roadshows, and project defenses. College leaders have shown concern for the progress of the projects and expressed care and comfort to the participating teachers and students. Various relevant departments and schools have worked together to provide strong support for the preparation of the project teams. The guiding teachers have devoted themselves wholeheartedly, while the enthusiasm of the participating students has remained consistently high. The 14 projects selected through selection at the school level cover research themes in various fields, including plate reshaping technology, marine engineering equipment, offshore planting, photovoltaic and thermal energy, and rural revitalization. During the preparation phase for the provincial competition, the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship organized a series of guidance and training sessions. The teachers and students of each project team have persevered and given their all, continuously optimizing their business plans and presentation materials, thereby enhancing the quality of the competition entries and the comprehensive qualities of the students. Ultimately, our school showcased the “daring to explore and innovate” youthful style and fine spirit of the students on the provincial stage, fully demonstrating the achievements of the school’s innovation and entrepreneurship education reform
According to the competition schedule, the three project teams from our school that won first prizes will continue to participate in the national competition selection training camp organized by the provincial competition committee. They will compete for the qualification to represent Jiangsu Province in the national competition after experts’ guidance and ranking competition. In the next phase, each participating team will prepare with even greater confidence and a positive attitude, striving to win honors and make contributions to JMI on a higher stage.
